About Us Artspace in an owner-operated gallery situated in the heart of Nedlands' Hampden Road shopping precinct, which inlcudes a choice of great restaurants, cafes, retail shopping and professional offices/rooms. Close by are the University of Western Australia and the picturesque Swan River. Run by Janie Benzie and Jenny Laurie - graduates of Claremont School of Art - Artspace is a working studio as well as a gallery. Both owners paint in the space and encourage visitors to wander at their leisure and view the work on display. The Gallery represents mainly local artists and has a maximum of six exhibitions a year. In between these the display of paintings is constantly changing as new artists are sourced and included. Works range from realist to abstract - covering the full spectrum of genres. The Directors are strongly committed to helping artists show their wok for minimum outlay. This is generally aided by the artist working in the Gallery at weekends, which gives gallery-goers an opportunity to "meet the artist". Artspace offers low commission rate, which translates to competitively priced artworks for the public, while still maintaining a high standard of work. Smaller items, such as jewellery are also on display. |
